Lectio

A calm, daily Bible reading habit.

Lectio helps you read through the Bible at your own pace. Pick a plan, choose how many chapters you'd like to read each day, and Lectio takes care of the rest — keeping track of your progress, your streak, and where you left off.

Common questions

How do I add a friend?

Each Lectio user has a unique code word. In the Friends section, enter your friend's code word to send a request. They'll receive it and can accept or decline.

I didn't get my email verification link

Check your spam or junk folder — verification emails sometimes land there. If you still don't see it, tap "Resend email" on the verification screen.

How do I change my reading plan or pace?

Go to Settings inside the app. You can change your chapters-per-day or pick a different plan at any time. Your streak is preserved.

How do I delete my account?

Email stoffel.thomas.ryan@gmail.com from the address tied to your Lectio account and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 7 days. In-app account deletion is coming soon.

Notifications aren't working

Open the iOS Settings app → Lectio → Notifications, and make sure they're enabled. Inside Lectio, check that reminders are turned on in Settings.

The widget isn't updating

iOS controls how often widgets refresh. The widget updates each time you open the app, and periodically on its own. Removing and re-adding the widget often resolves stale data.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 3, 2026

This policy describes what information Lectio ("the app", "we") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what's necessary to make the app work.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address through Firebase Authentication. We use it to sign you in, verify your account, and let you recover access if you forget your password.

Reading data

We store the data needed to keep your reading experience working across devices:

Friends

If you send or accept a friend request, we store the relationship between your account and your friend's account so you can see each other's reading progress. You can remove a friend at any time.

Push notification token

If you enable notifications, we store an Apple-provided device token so we can send you reminders and friend-request alerts. The token does not identify you personally.

What we do not collect

How we use your information

Service providers

Lectio uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions) to store data and send notifications. Firebase processes data on our behalf according to Google's privacy practices. Apple's Push Notification service delivers notifications to your device.

Data retention

We keep your data as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your account record, reading progress, friend connections, and friend code from our database within 30 days. Backups may persist for up to 60 days before being overwritten.

Your rights

You can:

Children

Lectio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by Google Firebase. Access to user data is restricted by Firestore security rules so users can only read and write their own data and the limited public data of accepted friends.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
